TENNIS: US OPEN, GOOD DEBUT FOR ITALIANS

Yesterday turned out to be a good opening for the Italians playing at the US Open: Schiavone and Pennetta in killing form, Errani won against Garbin. After three beautiful matches in the qualifying rounds, Camerin put in another great performance and smashed Australian Sophie Ferguson. Vinci was also excellent and rose up perfectly against Venus Willians, favourite number three, in the match that opened the night at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Only Brianti was defeated by French Parmentier.
