The deputy mayor of Kandahar – southern Afghanistan – died of the injuries sustained during an ambush. Noor Nazari was approached by a motorbike commando while travelling onboard his car. He died in hospital of bullet wounds. Also in Kandahar, four Afghan police officers were killed and ten injured in the wake of three separate explosions in the city centre.
