A former anti-corruption department official was charged with bribery and sentenced to death. 62-year-old Wang Huayuan had been in charge of rooting out corruption in the rich provinces of Canton and Zhejiang from 1998 to 2009. Wang Huayuan pleaded guilty, gave back the money and was given a two-year reprieve on his sentence which may be commuted to a life term. .
