CHINESE YUAN HITS 5 YEAR HIGH

The Chinese yuan has hit its highest level since being revalued in July 2005. The hike occurred after the authorities in Beijing committed to enhancing the Asian currency’s flexibility.

This morning the central bank fixed the authorised average fluctuation level to chime with the level achieved on Friday, but the yuan subsequently rose 0.47% to a 5-year high, not far off the maximum authorised level of 0.50% .
