Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has inaugurated direct talks between Israelis and Palestinians. Clinton thanked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Abu Mazen for their “courage and commitment.” Speaking at the State Department, Clinton said, “By being here today, you each have taken an important step toward freeing your peoples from the shackles of a history we cannot change.”
