DEPRESSION DOUBLES RISK OF DEVELOPING DEMENTIA

Depression can nearly double the risk of developing dementia at an older age. Experts were already aware of the link that is often present between the two, but were unable to ascertain whether or not the relationship was causal. The two studies published in the U.S. ‘Neurology’ journal suggest that depression is likely to cause dementia, although the underlying reason is not yet clear.
