Rome – For two days Iran has blacked out TV films about Neda Agha-Soltan, the 27-year-old protester killed a year ago. Broadcast in recent days on Voice of America Persian TV, the documentary in which Neda’s family speaks out for the first time, has managed to avoid censorship thanks to Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F48SinuEHIk&feature=channel ) where the film is broadcast in Farsi and English.
The film was co-produced by Mentorn Media for HBO and by Saeed Kamali Dehghan, former correspondent for The Guardian in Teheran. In spite of many witnesses who testified that Neda was killed by Basij pro-government militias, the Ministry of Intelligence in Teheran continues to speak of “ambiguities” and has announced that it will soon present a counter-documentary with “new evidence” proving the regime’s non-involvement. .
