SWIMMING:DOPING.L’EQUIPE, BOUSQUET FOUND POSITIVE, 2-M STOP

According to “L’Equipe”, Frederick Bousquet, recordman in 50m freestyle (20″94), was found positive at a doping test. The newspaper’s report goes on to say that, since last 20th of September, he is on a 2-month suspension for showing positive to Heptaminol during the meeting of Canet-en-Roussillon. Bousquet admitted his responsibilities to “L’Equipe”, explaining that he is to blame for negligent behavior deserving the “sanction that was imposed upon me”. According to the French newspaper, Bousquet consumed the product (a vasodilator generally used to treat low blood pressure problems) in order to overcome “a violent crisis, I didn’t have medicines with me and I trusted a pharmacy in Canet that I know very well”. The French champion and life-partner of Laure Manaudou, will go back to the pool during the national championships scheduled from 3 to 5 December in Chartres. According to “L’Equipe”, WADA does not classify the drug taken by Bousquet among the heavy drugs and this will enable a certain amount of flexibility in applying sanctions.
